PlayStation Plus to give away three additional PSVR games in November 2021

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of PSVR, Play station will offer PlayStation Plus subscribers three virtual reality games in November, in addition to the usual offers for the month. PSVR is one of the few Sony gaming products outside of their home consoles that holds up for the long term, as the company is currently phasing out PS Vita and even PS3 store support. Since the launch of PSVR, PlayStation has kept its library of virtual reality platform games in storage, as a successor headset to the PS5 has been in production.

The PSVR 2 is officially in development and while Sony has yet to reveal the actual headphones, they have shown the drivers for the peripheral. These will use PlayStation 5 DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers and feature precise hand and finger sensors. Sony says it will be ready to talk more about PSVR 2 before the end of 2021, but it has been months since it confirmed the existence of the headphones. Rumors suggest that the PSVR 2 headphones will target a higher resolution than rival products like the Oculus Quest 2, as well as a wider field of view and other improvements over the original.

A specific example was provided by Chandana Ekanyake of Outerloop Games, who explains how to develop Falcon age for PSVR it was required to work with a real falconer for the game animations to be accurate.

Sony has released several PSVR-enabled titles since the launch of the PS5 in their monthly PlayStation Plus giveaways, including Star Wars: Squads. Adding three new games to PS Plus in November in addition to the other unannounced games is likely to be a pleasant surprise for PSVR owners. Some might interpret the bonus offers as the company preparing to showcase PSVR 2, as mentioned at some points this year. If that’s the case, this could be a prelude to finding out more about the next PlayStation headset and hopefully when it will launch.

Sony’s PSVR support doesn’t seem to be slowing down five years later. Evidence of this can be found in Play stationThe recent acquisition of Firesprite, which has made several PSVR games in the past. While other companies make headsets exclusively for PCs, PSVR extends the reach of the technology to the console market. With games like Half Life: Alyx By paving the way for the next leap in VR gaming, you can expect Sony to find more ways to highlight PSVR and PSVR 2 in the near future.
